It takes me 2-3 years to wear them out and they help my back. Worth the money.There is clearly a problem with the manufacturing of these shoes since I ordered my regular size which was way too large. I then ordered the next size down and it was also too large. I then ordered the next size down and, guess what, it was again too large. I haven't ordered the next size down as it seems pointless to waste any more effort on finding shoes that clearly are not sized correctly. To have to try a pair 3 sizes smaller and it is too long is ridiculous.The width of the shoes is always accurate in my experience but they are far longer than necessary. I have had the same size feet since I was about 17 so I know what size I needed and it's always accurate - except with Birkenstock.These are great sandals for wearing around the house and garden- especially if you have a high instep. The artificial leather has a tendency to crack with time and the cork insole to break up after long use, but the comfort of the shape and instep support is unbeatable. I wouldn't try to walk far in them, or go on rough ground.However I was twice sent the narrow fit by Amazon when I expected the normal fit- as the narrow fir is not specified here. So I am trying elsewhere.Why oh why oh why did Birkenstock change the uppers from leather to whatever it is they are using now..... I'm currently breaking in a set of Birkenstock's. Great thing about leather is there is a degree of give and it and the holes in the straps enlarge with use....To and old un like me anything that helps me get them on is a bonus....So I find the artificial whatever it is isjust a bit of a painMost uncomfortable shoes i have ever owned wore them twice felt like they had rocks in themHad to take them of and walk with no shoes onThey are in the box in the wardrobe cant give them away.A bit clumsy looking. Fit the straps to size on the foot, take the sandal off and then fit the two lower straps when off the foot. I found the ankle strap a little easier to fit if I put me foot on a stool and then tried, but youmaybe much stronger than me!
